Cornell’s Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program invites growers to attend the annual Christmas Tree Twilight Meeting on August 20, 2025, at the Vegetable Research Farm at Cornell AgriTech in Geneva, New York. The event runs from 5:00 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. and includes dinner with a registration fee of $40.
This year’s focus is on soil health and pest management in Christmas tree production. Experts from the New York Soil Health Program and the Yates County Soil and Water Conservation District will share practical insights into how healthy soils support successful tree growth.
Attendees will also hear from Dan Weykman of the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), who will explain how growers can utilize NRCS programs to install pollinator and beneficial insect habitats on their farms.
In addition, Cornell IPM staff will present updates on their Swiss needlecast research in Douglas fir and discuss findings from ongoing studies on weed and root disease management strategies in Fraser fir production.
The meeting offers a valuable opportunity for growers to gain knowledge, network, and earn pesticide recertification credits-1.25 DEC credits in category 2 and 2.00 credits in categories 10, 1a, 3a, and 25. Pre-registration is encouraged due to limited space.
