EPA Regional Administrator Michael Martucci visited Orange County, New York, to celebrate National Agriculture Day and Week, touring local farms and highlighting the relationship between clean environment and agriculture.
"We don’t have food without farms, and we can’t have farms without clean land, water, and air,” said Regional Administrator Michael Martucci. “I’m so excited to come to these farms that I have known all my life in this new role as Regional Administrator. Uplifting farmers and business owners with all the resources EPA has to offer is important.”
Martucci toured Peaceful Valley Dairy in Westtown and R & G Produce in Pine Island, discussing the EPA's support for farmers and small business owners.
"I appreciate Mike Martucci and his team coming down to talk to us about the EPA issues and concerns,” said co-owner of R & G Produce, Gary Glowaczewski.
Aligning with the EPA's "Powering the Great American Comeback" initiative, the agency is committed to providing clean land, air, and water, essential for agricultural productivity. They support practices that protect the environment while maintaining a thriving agricultural sector.
Last week, the EPA also announced plans to clarify the "Waters of the United States" (WOTUS) definition under the Clean Water Act. EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin stated, “We want clean water for all Americans supported by clear and consistent rules for all states, farmers, and small businesses. Our goal is to protect America’s water resources consistent with the law of the land while empowering American farmers, landowners, entrepreneurs, and families to help Power the Great American Comeback.”
The EPA aims to provide clear, consistent rules for farmers and businesses, ensuring both environmental protection and agricultural prosperity.
