Cornell Cooperative Extension, in partnership with PRO-DAIRY, is hosting a one-day regional workshop series designed to provide hands-on, practical training for dairy professionals who work directly with cows. The workshops will take place at multiple locations from March 12 through March 18, 2026, running daily from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
This interactive program uses rotating learning stations and is offered in English, with Spanish-language programming available at select sites. The workshops focus on critical management practices that support cow health during the dry period, calving, and early lactation.
Participants will learn how to properly care for dry cows, identify high-risk animals, and prevent common health challenges. Sessions will also cover calving management, including monitoring progress, making sound intervention decisions, and hands-on practice using a Calving/Dystocia Model to reposition calves.
Additional topics include fresh cow health checks, disease identification, essential tools, and facility and pen management, with an overview of each host farm’s setup.
The program is ideal for on-farm employees and Agri service professionals. Registration costs $25 and includes lunch. For more information, contact Kathy Barrett at kfb36@cornell.edu.
