Soybean producers will soon have access to a new weed control option as Corteva prepares to introduce Enclosa™ herbicide for the 2027 growing season.
The herbicide combines encapsulated acetochlor and cloransulam, bringing together two different modes of action in one premixed product. The company says the combination delivers powerful weed control and up to four weeks of residual activity, helping farmers protect soybean fields from troublesome weeds.
Enclosa™ follows the introduction of Enversa herbicide, which featured Corteva’s encapsulated acetochlor technology. That technology is designed to move quickly into the soil after application, creating a protective layer that limits weed emergence and growth.
With the addition of cloransulam, Enclosa™ offers both residual and systemic activity. The herbicide is expected to control more than 36 broadleaf weeds and grasses, making it a practical option for a wide range of soybean operations.
As herbicide-resistant weeds continue to challenge crop production, the use of multiple modes of action has become increasingly important. Combining different herbicide groups can help growers improve weed control while reducing the risk of resistance development over time.
The product is designed to fit various soybean production programs across different regions. Corteva says Enclosa™ can be applied in both pre-emergence and post-emergence situations, providing greater flexibility when weather or field conditions affect management decisions.
Enclosa™ can also be tank mixed with several commonly used herbicides. It works well alongside products containing metribuzin or sulfentrazone before crop emergence and glyphosate or glufosinate after emergence. Farmers growing Enlist E3 soybeans may also benefit from pairing the product with Enlist One® herbicide.
To simplify handling and mixing, Enclosa™ will be offered as a liquid premix. The product has already received EPA approval and is currently undergoing state review processes before broader market availability.
