The New York Office of Cannabis Management has raised the allowable amount of nickel in smokable flower. This is a positive development for cultivators, as it will allow more products to pass testing and reach the market.
Some farmers are frustrated because they have already written off or turned previous harvests into biomass that could have passed testing under the new rules. However, the agency says that the change was necessary to best protect New Yorkers.
Aaron Leentjes, a cannabis farmer, has been advocating for this change for the past year. He is pleased with the outcome and believes that it will benefit the New York cannabis industry as a whole.
