New York State Fair 2026 Amateur Wine Competition Opens

By Blake Jackson

Amateur winemakers across New York are invited to take part in the 2026 Great New York State Fair Amateur Wine Competition, a celebration of creativity, craftsmanship, and passion for winemaking.

Whether participants are experienced hobbyists or newcomers eager to share their creations, the event offers a unique opportunity to showcase a variety of wines, including Rieslings, Rosés, Cabernets, and Pinots, while connecting with others who share an enthusiasm for the craft.

The competition is scheduled for Wednesday, June 3, with entry submissions required in advance. Wines must arrive at the New York State Fairgrounds by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, May 29, or be delivered by Friday, May 22, to an approved drop-off location.

Entrants are encouraged to review all submission guidelines and deadlines to ensure their participation is complete and eligible.

Winners of the Amateur Wine Competition will be announced during the Great New York State Fair on Sunday, August 30, at noon.

The fair itself begins on Wednesday, August 26, and runs through Labor Day, September 7, offering a wide range of attractions and entertainment for visitors.

Known for its affordability, the fair offers $8 admission for adults, while children under 12 and seniors aged 65 and older can attend for free.

All concerts are included with admission, making it a popular annual destination for families and visitors alike.
