Oak Ridge Boys to Return to Great New York State Fair
New York Ag Connection - 02/28/2020

The Oak Ridge Boys, whose distinctive harmonies and upbeat songs have taken them all the way to the top of the charts and to the Country Music Hall of Fame, return to Chevy Court at the Great New York State Fair Sept. 1 at 2 p.m. as part of the Chevrolet Music Festival. It's their ninth appearance at the Fair. Their performance is on the final Senior Day, which offers free admission to anyone age 60 and up. All performances at Chevy Court and the New York Experience Stage are free with Fair admission.

"Great music is timeless, and the Oaks are the proof. They've been together nearly 50 years and have more hits than they can fit into one show. We're thrilled to be able to host them again and I know that fans of classic country music will enjoy their gorgeous four-part harmonies once again," said Troy Waffner, Fair Director.

The Oak Ridge Boys join a lineup of more than 50 national touring shows presented in the Chevrolet Music Festival. Shows announced to date include:

At Chevy Court:

- Dropkick Murphys, 8 p.m. Aug. 30

- Sheena Easton, 2 p.m. Sept. 2

- Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, 6 p.m. Sept. 7

And at the Experience Stage:

- Vixen and Great White, 7 p.m. Aug. 29

Chevrolet sponsors concerts at Chevy Court and the Experience Stage.

America's first and oldest state fair, the Great New York State Fair, is "Beyond Great." Founded in 1841, the Fair is the largest state fair in the east and America's third largest state fair. More than 1.3 million people came in 2019 to enjoy the best food and beverages of New York agriculture, the largest free music festival of national touring groups in the nation, top class entertainment, shopping and more.

The Fair is a key piece of Governor Cuomo's CNY Rising strategy of growing the Central New York economy through tourism. Fair attendance is up more than 46% since the beginning of more than $120 million in investments. The 2020 Fair runs from Aug. 21 to Sept. 7. The New York State Fairgrounds is a 375-acre exhibit and entertainment complex that operates all year.
