Agriculture Career Day at the Great New York State Fair

Agriculture Career Day at the Great New York State Fair

The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets and Department of Labor are partnering to promote agricultural careers at the Great New York State Fair. Agriculture Career Day will be held on Thursday, August 24, and will feature a Career Challenge, interactive exhibits, and opportunities to connect with agricultural professionals.

The Career Challenge is a scavenger hunt around the Fairgrounds where participants can learn about different agricultural career paths. There will be nine stations with hands-on activities, and participants who complete six out of the nine stations will be entered to win a Nintendo Switch.

In addition to the Career Challenge, there will be interactive exhibits and demonstrations from agricultural organizations and businesses. Participants can learn about everything from farming to food processing to environmental conservation. There will also be opportunities to meet with agricultural professionals and learn about career opportunities.

Agriculture Career Day is a great opportunity for young people to learn about the many different career paths available in agriculture. It is also a chance to connect with agricultural professionals and learn about the exciting work that they do.

The Great New York State Fair is the oldest state fair in the United States, and it is a great place to learn about agriculture. Agriculture Career Day is just one of the many educational opportunities that are available at the Fair.

Here are some of the agricultural career paths that will be featured at Agriculture Career Day:

• Farming: Farmers grow crops and raise livestock. They are responsible for the production of food and fiber.

• Food processing: Food processors transform raw agricultural products into food that is ready to eat or cook. They work in a variety of settings, including factories, warehouses, and restaurants.

• Environmental conservation: Environmental conservationists protect and restore natural resources. They work in a variety of settings, including government agencies, private businesses, and non-profit organizations.

• Other agricultural careers: There are many other agricultural careers, such as agricultural engineers, veterinarians, and agricultural economists.

Agriculture is a vital part of the New York economy, and it offers many exciting career opportunities. Agriculture Career Day is a great way to learn more about these opportunities and to connect with agricultural professionals.
