A Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) Training session will take place on Saturday, November 8, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Scott Rasmussen’s farm, located at 835 Spring Valley Road, Delhi, NY 13753.
The event, hosted by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Delaware County in collaboration with the Watershed Agricultural Council, is offered at no cost. Attendees will also enjoy a light breakfast and receive training materials.
The BQA program is designed to help beef producers identify management opportunities that can lead to improved efficiency and profitability. Through this training, participants will gain valuable insights into Beef Quality Assurance practices, understanding drug labels, and chute-side training, including proper techniques for administering shots.
By participating in BQA, beef producers demonstrate their commitment to responsible management practices that enhance both animal welfare and product quality.
The program also helps strengthen consumer confidence in beef by promoting the adoption of techniques that ensure a safe, high-quality food supply.
“Beef Quality Assurance” goes beyond simple compliance; it represents an industry-wide effort to maintain high standards in livestock care, food safety, and environmental stewardship. Producers who complete BQA certification are better equipped to make informed decisions that positively impact their operations and the marketplace.
Those interested in attending are asked to register by November 6 by contacting Kim Holden at (607) 510-7126 or via email at kmh19@cornell.edu. Participants can also conveniently register by scanning the QR code provided on the event flyer.
