Chobani Expands in New York - Boosting Dairy Industry

By Blake Jackson

Congresswoman Elise Stefanik recently celebrated Chobani’s $1.2 billion investment at the groundbreaking ceremony for its new facility in Rome, New York. This state-of-the-art plant will create over 1,000 jobs and provide direct benefits to local dairy farmers.

Joining Stefanik at the event were Chobani Founder and CEO Hamdi Ulukaya, Oneida County Executive Tony Picente, New York State Senator Joseph Griffo, and Rome Mayor Jeffrey Lanigan.

“This $1.2 billion investment into New York’s 21st Congressional district will support 1,000 new jobs as well as promote the delicious and healthy dairy products Upstate New York has to offer. This is great news for our Upstate New York and North Country dairy farmers as well as our region’s economy. I am proud to welcome the hardworking employees of Chobani to NY21 and am grateful for their commitment to our region,” said Congresswoman Elise Stefanik.

Hamdi Ulukaya, Chobani’s Founder and CEO, expressed his excitement about the company’s expansion in New York, stating, “New York is where Chobani’s journey began. It was the perfect spot to start Chobani 20 years ago, and it’s the perfect place to continue our story. Working with dedicated dairy farmers and the resilient community, we built something truly special something bigger than the food we make.”

Oneida County Executive Tony Picente highlighted the importance of the Griffiss Triangle site for this project. “This $1 billion investment will create over 1,000 good-paying jobs, boost our local economy, and reaffirm our region as a hub for innovation and opportunity.”

Senator Joseph Griffo also praised the investment, noting the transformative impact it will have on the community. “Today is a truly exciting and important day for Rome and Upstate New York,” Griffo said.

Rome Mayor Jeffrey Lanigan extended his gratitude, emphasizing the project’s revitalizing effect on the city. “This marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Rome,” he added.
