Dilmun Hill Student Farm at Cornell University will host an agroforestry field tour on Monday, July 20, from 4 to 6:30 p.m., inviting farmers, students, educators, and community members to explore innovative farming practices in Ithaca, New York.
The guided tour will highlight several expanding agroforestry projects at the farm, including a pawpaw orchard integrated with sheep grazing, air-pruned raised beds used for tree seedling production, and log-grown mushroom cultivation.
Participants will hear from specialists representing Cornell Cooperative Extension, the Cornell Small Farms Program, Cornell PRO-LIVESTOCK, as well as Cornell faculty, staff, and student leaders involved with the farm.
The program will cover key topics such as agroforestry design principles, pawpaw production, silvopasture management, mushroom cultivation on logs, and nursery techniques using air-pruned raised beds.
Organizers aim to demonstrate how these sustainable practices support the farm's long-term educational and agricultural goals.
Following the tour, attendees are invited to enjoy light refreshments and a community social gathering beginning at 6:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public, although advance registration is encouraged.
