Discover Mazza's Perfect Rose and Award-Winning Wines

Discover Mazza's Perfect Rose and Award-Winning Wines

By Blake Jackson

Mazza Chautauqua Cellars, located in the Lake Erie AVA, is a testament to the Mazza family's deep-rooted winemaking tradition, originating from Calabria, Italy.

In the early 1900s, the Mazza ancestors farmed southern Italy’s fertile land, cultivating grapes among other crops.

This passion for farming and winemaking was carried forward when Robert Mazza and his brother Frank founded Mazza Vineyards in North East, Pennsylvania, in 1972.

Robert’s dedication to producing high-quality wines and supporting the local industry played a key role in their success. Today, his son Mario Mazza continues the family legacy with his background in chemical engineering and enology, along with years of hands-on experience.

In 2005, the Mazza family expanded with Mazza Chautauqua Cellars in New York State. Originally based in Mayville, NY, the winery quickly gained recognition for its wines and spirits.

In 2013, the operation moved to Westfield, NY, where it became New York's first winery, distillery, and brewery on a stunning 80-acre property, also home to Five & 20 Spirits and Brewing.

Mazza Chautauqua Cellars offers a unique experience with a welcoming space for guests to enjoy wines, spirits, and craft brews while soaking in the scenic beauty of the region.

The winery’s portfolio includes a mix of European varietals like Riesling and Pinot Grigio, as well as native varieties like Chambourcin and Lemberger. Their standout wine, the “Perfect Rosé,” earned a Decanter Gold award and 95 points.

The Mazza family is deeply committed to sustainability and community involvement, supporting local organizations and events. They also prioritize environmentally responsible vineyard practices to ensure the region’s future as a top wine-producing area.

Mazza Chautauqua Cellars reflects the Mazza family’s enduring legacy of winemaking excellence, combining heritage, innovation, and a love for the land, creating a lasting impact on both their community and the Lake Erie AVA.
