New Probiotic Boosts Dairy Herd Health

By Jamie Martin

Barentz has entered a new distribution partnership with NexGen Innovations, LLC, marking an important development for the U.S. dairy industry. Under the agreement, Barentz will serve as the exclusive distributor of Probicon Pro™, a probiotic product developed for dairy cattle.

“We are very excited to work with NexGen Innovations to bring Probicon Pro™ to the dairy industry in the United States,” said Dari Brown, Director of Sales and Technical Services, Animal Nutrition at Barentz. “Probicon Pro™ is a product that can positively impact dairy herd health and is backed by strong science and research. Using it on every cow, every day can benefit producers’ bottom line.”

The partnership is designed to give dairy producers broader access to innovative nutrition tools that support herd health. Probicon Pro™ focuses on lowering digestive risks across dairy operations, helping both growing and lactating cattle maintain stronger performance and improved productivity.

The probiotic is built around Lactobacillus salivarius L28, a research-backed organism developed through modern scientific approaches. Extensive research and peer-reviewed studies support the product’s role in probiotic pathogen control. In addition, its viability protection technology helps extend shelf life and allows flexibility across various dairy feeding systems.

Industry leaders from both companies emphasized the value of combining innovation with practical farm solutions. Barentz noted that the product is supported by strong research and has the potential to contribute to better herd health and improved economic outcomes for dairy operations when included in daily feeding programs.

NexGen Innovations expressed confidence in the partnership, highlighting Barentz’s strong market presence and distribution capabilities. Together, the companies aim to deliver reliable, science-based feed solutions that help producers meet evolving industry demands.

The agreement also reflects Barentz’s broader strategy to expand its animal feed portfolio and strengthen its role as a provider of ethical and sustainable nutrition solutions. With increasing pressure on dairy farms to improve efficiency and maintain animal well-being, partnerships like this are becoming more important for delivering practical innovations to producers.

“We are excited about the partnership with Barentz and look forward to working together to serve dairies across the country,” said Jeff Wilkerson, General Manager at NexGen Innovations, LLC.

Overall, the collaboration supports continued progress in dairy nutrition by providing farmers with new tools that help improve herd performance while promoting long-term sustainability and operational success.
