Grasstravaganza, a renowned grazing conference in the Northeast, faced a setback in 2023 when it had to be canceled. However, the eagerly anticipated event has been rescheduled as a one-day conference – Grasstravaganza 2024: Plant Graze – Growing Resilient Grazing Systems.
Scheduled for Saturday, March 9th, at the SUNY Morrisville campus from 8 am to 4:30 pm, the conference will commence in the Student Activity building. The keynote speaker, Colorado rancher Kit Pharo of Pharo Cattle Company, is recognized for his breeding program focused on low-maintenance grass-fed seedstock cows and bulls. Known for his practical insights, Kit provides a down-to-earth perspective on building successful farming or ranching businesses for the next generation.
The conference agenda spans various topics crucial for maintaining farm resilience, including soil health, climate impacts, agritourism diversification, pasture ecosystems, and virtual fencing technologies. The day concludes with Allison Morrill Chatrchyan from Cornell's Climate Smart Farming Program and the USDA Climate Hub, offering insights into future weather and climate patterns.
Registration for the conference, priced at $40 per person, includes lunch, with a deadline set for March 2nd. A trade show will complement the event, and vendors are invited to register on the conference website. More details can be found by visiting https://grasstravaganza.morrisville.edu/
Sponsored by USDA-NRCS and SUNY Morrisville, and with support from Cornell Cooperative Extension and NOFA-NY, Grasstravaganza 2024 promises a day of valuable insights, practical knowledge, and networking opportunities for all attendees passionate about resilient grazing systems and sustainable agriculture.
