Grow-NY competition awards $3 million to startups

Hypercell Technologies, a startup from Peachtree Corners, Georgia, has been named the grand prize winner of the 2023 Grow-NY business competition. The competition is focused on fostering innovation in the food, beverage, and agriculture sectors in Upstate New York.

Hypercell Technologies provides rapid point-of-care diagnostics for the food chain, helping to ensure the early identification and management of biological contaminants from production to processing.

The company's CEO and co-founder, Bruno Jactel, expressed gratitude for New York state's support and the opportunity to participate in the Grow-NY competition. He said that the prize money will help the company grow faster and that the innovative ecosystem in Upstate New York will help it grow more sustainably.

In addition to Hypercell Technologies, six other finalists were awarded prizes at the Grow-NY Summit. These companies include:

Crover (Edingburgh, United Kingdom): A company that develops technology to help grain storage operators reduce losses and maintain optimum storage conditions.

SomaDetect (Thornhill, ON, Canada): A company that provides farmers with automatic and reliable milk-based data to help them make better decisions about their milk production.

Cattle Scan (Toronto, Canada): A company that develops cattle monitoring technology to improve overall herd health, increase production efficiency, and help advance business sustainability and operational excellence.

Clean Label Solution (Ithaca, NY): A company that has developed technology to improve protein and fat digestibility and reduce CO2 emissions and energy consumption in the production of soy-based animal feeds.

MycoLogic (Kennesaw, GA): A company that provides hardware and software for the semiautonomous cultivation of specialty mushrooms, as well as biological support and consultation.

Mush Foods (Poughkeepsie, NY): A company that harnesses the power of mushrooms to create a groundbreaking, sustainable, animal-free protein for the food and beverage industry.

The Grow-NY business competition is administered by Cornell University's Center for Regional Economic Advancement. The competition's goal is to help startups grow and create jobs in Upstate New York's food and agriculture sectors.
