On June 29, 2023, interns from Cornell CALS' Nutrient Management Spear Program (NMSP) toured Chobani's plant in New Berlin, New York. The plant produces milk-based Greek-style yogurts and sources millions of pounds of milk per week from over 600 dairy farms in New York.
The interns were led on a tour by Isaac Adams, Chobani training manager, and Roberta Osborne, Chobani director of farms and sustainability. They learned about the yogurt production process, from milk collection to cup assembly, quality-control checkpoints, storage, and shipment.
The interns were impressed by the scale of the plant and the efficiency of the production process. They also learned about Chobani's commitment to sustainability. The company works with dairy farmers to improve nutrient use, mitigate carbon emissions, and demonstrate progress.
The interns also met with Domniki Demetriadou and Morgan VanAlstine from Chobani's human resources team. They learned about the company's inclusive culture and its commitment to giving back to the community.
The interns enjoyed their tour of the Chobani plant and learned a lot about the company's commitment to sustainability and community engagement.
