Governor Kathy Hochul officially opened the 2025 Great New York State Fair, unveiling a series of upgrades aimed at enhancing agricultural exhibits and facilities for fairgoers.
Among the highlights are a new Sheep and Wool Center, upgraded horse stables, and plans for a redesigned Milk Bar. Running from August 20 through Labor Day, September 1, 2025, the Fair continues to celebrate New York’s agricultural heritage while remaining the nation’s most affordable state fair.
“The Great New York State Fair has long been a place where New Yorkers celebrate the best of New York and connect with our agricultural heritage,” Governor Hochul said.
“As New York’s first mom Governor, I’ve worked hard to make sure that The Fair remains an affordable place for families to learn more about our great state and to make countless memories that will last a lifetime without breaking the bank.”
“The Great New York State Fair is a beloved New York tradition that spotlights the very best that our state has to offer. Thanks to Governor Hochul’s leadership, The Fair continues to grow and evolve, while still remaining rooted in its agricultural heritage," New York State Agriculture Commissioner Richard A. Ball said.
"From delicious food and fantastic music to exciting agricultural exhibits that highlight the hard work of our agricultural communities, all for a family-friendly price, The Fair has something for everyone. I encourage New Yorkers to plan a trip this year.”
“The Great New York State Fair just keeps getting better. We have so many exciting new offerings for fairgoers this year, while still highlighting our longtime agricultural traditions and fairgoer favorites," State Fair Director Julie LaFave said. "Everyone, make a plan to visit The 2025 Fair – we’re ready to get the party started!”
The Fiscal Year 2026 Budget allocated $35 million for Fairgrounds capital projects, including upgrades to stages, the Expo Center, and the Milk Bar.
The Milk Bar renovation will feature a larger space, a new location, and state-of-the-art equipment, offering white, chocolate, and strawberry milk during all 13 days of the Fair, operated by Cornell Cooperative Extension.
The new 15,000-square-foot Sheep Barn, which includes a Wool Center, ensures the comfort and safety of sheep while educating the public about wool products.
Additionally, three new 9,000-square-foot horse stables support year-round horse shows and prioritize animal safety and care.
