Join New York Wines Sustainability Week

New York is showcasing its leadership in sustainable winegrowing with the upcoming New York Wines Sustainability Week, a series of events in New York City from February 24th to March 2nd.

The New York Wine & Grape Foundation (NYWGF) is hosting this week-long celebration to highlight the efforts of vineyards committed to environmental and social responsibility.

Attendees will have the opportunity to taste wines from participants in the New York Sustainable Winegrowing Program, which includes a certification process ensuring grapes are grown with environmental, social, and economic sustainability in mind. The week features restaurant tastings, retail shop events, pairing dinners, and winemaker discussions.

“We are thrilled to bring New York Wines Sustainability Week to New York City and provide consumers with the opportunity to experience firsthand the wines crafted with care for both the land and the people behind each bottle,” said Justin Jackson, NYWGF Sustainability Program Manager.

“Sustainability isn’t just about environmental responsibility it’s about ensuring the future of New York’s wine industry for generations to come. This event is a celebration of that commitment and an invitation for wine lovers to join us in supporting a greener, more resilient future for New York wine.”

The New York Sustainable Winegrowing Program, in collaboration with industry leaders, has developed a science-based certification process supporting eco-friendly farming, fair labor, and economic growth.

During the week, consumers can taste wines from participants in both the New York and Long Island Sustainable Winegrowing Programs.

Sustainability is presented as a crucial aspect of the wine industry’s future. Choosing wines from certified sustainable grapes supports healthier vineyards, stronger communities, and exceptional wines.

Eco-friendly farming protects soil, biodiversity, and water quality, while fair labor ensures positive social impact. Sustainable practices also lead to higher quality grapes, resulting in vibrant, expressive wines that reflect New York’s terroir.

New York Wines Sustainability Week is described as a celebration of winemakers shaping the industry’s future. It invites both seasoned enthusiasts and newcomers to explore and support sustainable wine practices.
