Judi Whittaker, a fourth-generation farmer and passionate advocate for agriculture, has been honored with the New York Farm Bureau’s 2024 Distinguished Service to Agriculture Award. Her remarkable contributions have significantly strengthened the agricultural sector and driven important policy advancements for rural farmers.
Judi, along with her husband Scott, co-owns Whittaker Farms in Whitney Point, New York. The farm, with over a century of history, includes 600 dairy cows and 2,000 acres of row crops. Her dedication to farming extends beyond daily operations, as she is deeply involved in advocacy and community service.
Judi has been a leader in promoting farm safety and agricultural policies. She played a key role in the passage of Senate Bill 4085A, ensuring that New York air ambulances carry life-saving blood products. As co-chair of the Agricultural Advisory Committee, she worked with state representatives to address challenges faced by farmers.
In addition to her advocacy, Judi is an active member of her local agricultural community, serving on the New York State Dairy Promotion Order Advisory Board. She was also recognized with the O. Cleon Barber Award in 2021 for her support of Broome County agriculture.
Judi’s dedication and leadership continue to inspire the farming community and drive positive change in agriculture.
