According to the National Agricultural Statistics Service in New York, farmers had 4.5 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending Sunday, September 29, 2024. The favorable conditions allowed for a variety of agricultural activities across the state.
Topsoil Moisture:
Topsoil moisture supplies were reported as 0 percent very short, 11 percent short, 78 percent adequate, and 11 percent surplus, indicating that most fields had adequate moisture levels for farming operations.
Subsoil Moisture:
Subsoil moisture supplies were rated 2 percent very short, 9 percent short, 83 percent adequate, and 6 percent surplus, further supporting strong moisture levels in the region.
Farmers are expected to continue fieldwork in the coming weeks, with overall moisture levels ensuring suitable conditions for crop management and harvest operations.
