According to the National Agricultural Statistics Service in New York, there were 5 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending Sunday.
Topsoil moisture supplies were 1 percent very short, 9 percent short, 75 percent adequate, and 15 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies were 6 percent very short, 6 percent short, 82 percent adequate, and 6 percent surplus.
Fall tillage was 56 percent complete, behind last year's 66 percent but near the 5-year average of 58 percent.
Corn at dough stage was reported nearly complete at 95 percent, while corn dented was 83 percent with maturity of the corn crop estimated at 40 percent. Corn harvested for silage was reported at 63 percent complete, behind last year's 71 percent, but ahead of the 5-year average of 54 percent.
Soybeans fully podded was reported at 92 percent. Soybeans dropping leaves was 80 percent, equal with the 5-year average. The soybean harvest was 29 percent complete, ahead of last year's 22 percent and the 5-year average of 19 percent.
Winter wheat planted was 48 percent, with 12 percent of the crop emerged.
