Taste NY will Showcase Local Flavors at State Fair

By Blake Jackson

The Taste NY program will once again bring New York-grown flavors to the forefront at the Great New York State Fair, offering visitors the chance to discover locally produced food and beverages in the Horticulture Building.

The popular New York State Tasting Yard, along with the Taste NY Pop-Up Market and Marketplace, will provide fairgoers with a convenient destination to sample and purchase products from across the state.

This year, the program is expanding its educational offerings with a larger lineup of seminars focused on New York’s thriving craft beverage industry.

Hosted by beverage producers and industry experts, the sessions will give visitors an opportunity to learn more about cider, wine, mead, spirits, brewing, and other topics while gaining insight into the state's agricultural and beverage sectors.

“New York State is home to some of the best farmers and producers in the world, and the Great New York State Fair is the perfect place to showcase that. This year, I’m excited to see the Taste NY program continue to expand its presence for fairgoers, providing a unique platform for our New York farmers and food and beverage producers to introduce their homegrown products to thousands of new consumers," State Agriculture Commissioner Richard Ball said.

He added, "I encourage visitors to stop into one of the many seminars being held this year to learn more about our powerhouse craft beverage industry and make sure to take home some delicious local products while you’re at it!”

The New York State Tasting Yard will operate daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and feature rotating selections from craft beverage producers across the state.
