Late April signals the start of a lively season in New York wine country, as vineyards awaken, landscapes bloom, and tasting rooms welcome visitors eager to explore.
With warmer days arriving, it’s the perfect time to plan a wine-focused getaway across the state’s renowned regions.
Trip planning has become more convenient thanks to a new collaboration between the New York Wine & Grape Foundation and Wine Enthusiast. Their Online Tasting Room Directory now features more than 100 wineries across New York, offering a user-friendly platform to search locations, check hours, read reviews, and book reservations.
The directory also includes interactive maps and highlights four major wine trails, helping visitors easily organize their routes.
The Finger Lakes stands out as New York’s largest and most celebrated wine region, recently named the 2025 American Wine Region of the Year. Known for its cool climate and unique geography, the area produces exceptional Rieslings along with notable Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir, and sparkling wines.
Visitors can explore scenic routes like the Keuka Lake Wine Trail and Cayuga Wine Trail, both offering diverse winery experiences.
In the Hudson Valley, the Shawangunk Wine Trail offers a charming escape just 90 minutes from New York City.
Surrounded by mountains and rolling farmland, the region is known for cool-climate varieties such as Chardonnay and Cabernet Franc, along with a strong agritourism appeal featuring farm markets and outdoor dining.
Meanwhile, Long Island’s wine country delivers a coastal experience shaped by its maritime climate. With over 60 wineries across the North Fork and Hamptons, the region excels in producing Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Chardonnay. Its accessibility makes it ideal for day trips or weekend visits.
Together, these regions provide a rich and varied wine experience, making New York a top destination for wine lovers this season.
