The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is offering a free webinar to support beginning farmers across the country. The hour-long session will be held on Tuesday, April 22 at 12:00 p.m. (noon) and requires pre-registration. Once registered, participants will also receive a recording of the session. Registration is available at: Register here.
According to the 2022 Census of Agriculture, 28% of New York’s farmers are classified as beginning farmers, meaning they have less than 10 years of experience. To offer them the right tools and knowledge, USDA is strengthening its support through dedicated state-level teams and a national coordinator. These teams come from four key USDA agencies: Farm Service Agency (FSA), Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), Risk Management Agency (RMA), and Rural Development (RD).
This upcoming webinar will cover a wide range of topics such as farm loans, disaster assistance, conservation, and risk management options available to beginning farmers and ranchers. Many USDA programs offer special benefits for beginners, including targeted loan funding, program exemptions, and conservation assistance.
