Majority of NYS Soil Moisture Adequate

According to the National Agricultural Statistics Service in New York, there were 5.5 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending Sunday.

Topsoil moisture supplies were 14 percent very short, 29 percent short, 52 percent adequate, and 5 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies were 6 percent very short, 17 percent short, 76 percent adequate, and 1 percent surplus.

New York tart cherries are 12 poor, 12 fair, 81 percent good and 25 percent excellent, while peaches are 1 percent very poor, 16 percent poor, 16 percent fair and 67 good. New York pears are rated 14 percent poor, 16 percent fair, 65 percent good and 5 percent good.

The corn crop is 13 percent poor, 27 percent fair, 37 prtvrny hoof snf 23 percent excellent. Soybeans are rated 1 percent poor, 36 percent fair, 50 percent good and 14 percent excellent.
