NY food at allparks boosts local farms

New York "Eat Local, Drink Local" program is hitting a home run with a partnership between Taste NY and five Minor League Baseball teams across the state. This collaboration brings the best of New York's agricultural products to over 1.2 million fans throughout the season.

The program benefits both fans and local businesses. Fans get to enjoy delicious food and beverages produced in New York, while over 60 vendors gain increased exposure and sales opportunities. In 2023 alone, these partnerships generated over $5.7 million for New York's farmers and food and beverage producers.

"A baseball game isn't complete without great food and drinks," said State Agriculture Commissioner Richard A. Ball. "Through Taste NY, fans can discover delicious local products while supporting small businesses. It's a win-win for everyone!"

The 2024 season promises exciting offerings at each participating stadium:

Buffalo Bisons: Fans at Sahlen Field can expect Taste NY signage and special promotions throughout the season, including "Eat Local Day" and "Twosdays" discounts. Local favorites like Sahlen's hot dogs and Upstate Farms ice cream will be available, alongside new vendors like Hartman's Distilling Company and McCullagh Coffee Roasters.

Rochester Red Wings: Innovative Field will feature Taste NY concession signage and sponsor the Dugout bars. Additionally, the L-Bar will showcase Taste NY products through advertisements and promotions. Local favorites like Zweigle's hot dogs and Perry's Ice Cream will return, with new additions including BlackBird Cider Works and Ithaca Beer Co.

Syracuse Mets: NBT Bank Stadium will see an upgraded Taste NY cart and outfield sign. New "Taste NY Tap Takeovers" will highlight craft beverages, and a menu board will showcase local beers and hard ciders. Fans can expect Hofmann hot dogs and Perry's Ice Cream alongside new offerings.

Hudson Valley Renegades: The team will once again be the "Hudson Valley Cider Donuts" for select games, promoting fall flavors and local producers. Sahlen's hot dogs and Awestruck Cider are just a few of the local products available.

Tri-City ValleyCats: The Taste NY kiosk at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium will return with new signage and high-top tables. The stadium will also sponsor the Beer Garden & Kiosk, promoting Taste NY vendors during special events. Local favorites like Saratoga Springs Water and Nine Pin Cider will be available, with additional vendors joining the lineup.

This partnership is a hit with both fans and teams. "There are so many great local food items unique to our region," said Buffalo Bisons Vice President Robert Free. "Working with Taste NY allows us to celebrate these flavors with our fans."

The sentiment is echoed by representatives from all participating teams, highlighting the importance of supporting local businesses and showcasing the bounty of New York agriculture. So, grab a hot dog, sip on a local craft beer, and enjoy the game – all while supporting New York at its finest!
