Farmers, crop advisers, and agricultural professionals are invited to attend the NY Soil Health Field Day on June 25 at Sheland Farms in Adams, New York.
The event, organized in partnership with Cornell Cooperative Extension of Jefferson County, will run from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and focus on improving soil health and nutrient management practices in dairy production systems.
During the field day, participants will learn how double-cropping triticale after harvesting lower relative maturity corn silage can support stronger soil health outcomes.
Organizers say the practice may help reduce soil erosion and nutrient runoff while improving overall field performance and sustainability.
The program will include discussions on crop management strategies, soil conservation practices, and methods for increasing nutrient efficiency on dairy farms.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to observe field conditions firsthand and connect with researchers, extension specialists, and local producers.
The event aims to provide practical information that farmers can apply to strengthen long-term soil productivity and environmental stewardship.
