Boost your Christmas tree profits with expert tips

On August 15, 2024, the Vegetable Research Farm at Cornell AgriTech in Geneva, NY, will host an insightful event dedicated to advancing research for Christmas tree growers.

Scheduled from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM, this $40 event offers valuable information and practical insights into various aspects of tree cultivation and pest management.

The evening will commence with check-in at 4:00 PM, where attendees can enjoy sandwiches and refreshments. At 4:30 PM, the program will begin with introductions and an overview of current field activities.

Following this, Timothy Waller from Rutgers Cooperative Extension will present research on Phytophthora, a critical pathogen affecting Christmas trees, starting at 4:45 PM.

Subsequent sessions will cover novel technologies for weed management, led by Lynn Sosnoskie at 5:15 PM, and beneficial insects in Christmas tree cultivation, presented by Amara Dunn at 5:45 PM.

Marcus Lopez will share insights into needlecast research at 6:15 PM, and Bryan Brown will discuss weed seedbanks at 6:45 PM. The event will conclude with an evaluation and a safe travels message at 7:30 PM.

Participants will earn 2.5 DEC pesticide recertification credits in categories 10, 1a, 3a, and 25. For more information and registration, contact the event organizers.
