Cornell AgriTech Hosts 10th Annual Hemp Field Day

By Blake Jackson

The Cornell Hemp Research and Extension Team will host its 10th Annual Hemp Field Day on September 15, 2026, at Cornell AgriTech in Geneva, New York, providing farmers, researchers, and industry stakeholders with an opportunity to learn about the latest developments in hemp production and processing.

The event will run from 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and includes lunch. Attendees will hear presentations on recent animal feeding trials involving hemp seed meal, along with an update from Andrew Bish on initiatives led by the Hemp Feed Coalition.

Field demonstrations will showcase key aspects of hemp production, including grain harvesting with a John Deere combine, grain drying, fiber harvesting and baling, and hemp decortication.

Participants will also learn about yield performance differences based on planting dates and harvest timing for several hemp cultivars, including Ursa Alta and Ursa Grande, developed through Cornell’s hemp breeding program.

The program will feature presentations from New York hemp companies and startups, offering insights into future opportunities within the industry. Farmers interested in growing hemp in 2027 are encouraged to attend and connect with potential contracting companies.

Registration costs $45, and participants should register by September 8, 2026. Organizers also highlighted two additional hemp-focused events in Geneva: the USDA-ARS Plant Genetic Resources Unit Hemp Field Day on September 10 and the Cornell Cooperative Extension Harvest New York Hemp Field Day on September 11.
