Cornell Fruit Webinar 2025 - Grower Tips and Pest Management

By Blake Jackson

Cornell University’s 2025 Winter Fruit Webinar Series is set to provide valuable insights into current fruit-related research.

Hosted by the New York State Integrated Pest Management (NYSIPM) program in collaboration with CCE Harvest NY, CCE LOFP, and CCE ENYCHP, this event aims to educate growers and industry professionals on critical plant health issues.

Scheduled for March 14, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the webinar will feature presentations from two leading experts.

Dr. George Sundin of Michigan State University will address cherry leaf spot and bitter rot, two significant diseases affecting fruit production.

Meanwhile, Dr. Brett Blaauw, affiliated with the University of Georgia and Clemson University, will provide an in-depth discussion on scale insects. His presentation will cover the biology of different scale species, identification techniques, and current best management strategies for controlling these pests in tree fruit orchards.

Participants seeking DEC credits must attend the entire webinar on their personal device and submit a Google Form survey at both the beginning and end of the session. Additionally, a photo ID must be sent to Anna Wallis at aew232@cornell.edu in advance.

For more details, contact Anna Wallis, Fruit IPM Coordinator, NYSIPM, at aew232@cornell.edu.
