Over 450 dairy nutritionists, consultants, and industry professionals from around the world gathered at the 86th Annual Cornell Nutrition Conference in East Syracuse, New York.
The conference, organized by the Cornell Animal Science Department, provided a platform for sharing the latest research and insights in animal nutrition.
“We were excited to welcome another large domestic and international crowd to the conference,” said Thomas Overton, professor of Cornell animal science and overall conference chair. “A robust agenda that features cutting edge research from Cornell and other leading faculty programs from around the country is a high point for us.”
The conference focused on dairy cattle nutrition, with sessions exploring topics such as muscle health, milk production, immune response, and nutrient efficiency.
In light of the growing concern over greenhouse gas emissions, researchers discussed strategies to reduce a farm's environmental footprint, particularly methane emissions.
“We are at a pivotal moment in dairy farming where science and sustainability go hand in hand,” said Mike Van Amburgh, Cornell professor of animal science and conference program chair. “The findings shared at this conference provide practical solutions for allied industry to help dairy producers improve animal health, enhance production efficiency and reduce environmental impacts.”
The conference also recognized outstanding graduate students through the Leonard A. Maynard Graduate Student Awards, the Danny G. Fox Graduate Fellowship, and the Charlie Sniffen Graduate Student Award. These awards honor exceptional research and contributions to the field of animal nutrition.
The next Cornell Nutrition Conference is scheduled for October 21-23, 2025.
