New York experienced 6.0 days suitable for fieldwork, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS). Topsoil moisture levels showed that 1% of the state had very short moisture, 28% was short, 68% was adequate, and 3% was surplus.
Subsoil moisture levels were reported as 3% very short, 13% short, 82% adequate, and 2% surplus.
In terms of crop progress, the corn harvest for grain reached 73%, an increase from last week's 61%, surpassing last year's pace of 68% and the 5-year average of 61%.
Fall tillage completion was reported at 93%, slightly up from 91% the previous week, ahead of last year's 85%, and above the 5-year average of 82%.
The fourth cutting of other hay reached 85%, up from 78% last week, compared to 81% last year and 74% for the 5-year average.
Soybean harvest made significant strides, with 95% of the crop harvested, up from 88% the previous week, and ahead of both last year’s 92% and the 5-year average of 85%.
Winter wheat emergence was reported at 92%, an increase from 86% last week, surpassing last year’s 90% and the 5-year average of 88%.
