Research grants open - boost New York wine industry in 2025

The New York Wine & Grape Foundation (NYWGF) is seeking proposals for the 2025-2026 fiscal year. Since 1985, NYWGF has supported research in viticulture (grape growing), enology (winemaking), and business management, helping the New York wine industry thrive.

Focus Areas for Research:

  • Viticulture: Disease and pest control, including invasive species, sustainable vineyard management practices, exploring new technologies like mechanization and precision agriculture, and evaluating grape varieties and clones.
  • Enology: Impact of grape varieties and clones on wine quality, sustainable winemaking practices, wine microbiology, and advanced wine analysis techniques.
  • Other: Development of new non-alcoholic grape products and educational resources like newsletters.
  • Business Development: Understanding evolving consumer preferences, the impact of technology on the industry, and strategies for customer awareness and loyalty.

Proposals are due electronically by January 13, 2025. Use the NYWGF Proposal Template and email it to research@nywgf.org.

  • Researchers seeking private sector funding must include a letter of support.
  • A detailed budget using the Research Budget Template is required.
