Community members are invited to take part in an upcoming Local Working Group meeting focused on agricultural and natural resource priorities in the Saranac Lake area.
The session will be held on March 4, 2026, from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Saranac Lake Free Library’s Cantwell Community Room, located at 109 Main Street in Saranac Lake, NY 12983. There is no cost to attend.
The meeting will provide an opportunity for participants to discuss conservation concerns affecting local farms, forests, and natural landscapes.
Attendees will help identify key resource issues within the community and offer input to the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). Feedback gathered during the meeting will help guide conservation planning and funding decisions under federal Farm Bill programs.
Participation is open to a wide range of stakeholders, including agricultural producers, owners of nonindustrial private forestland, representatives from agricultural and environmental organizations, and government officials involved in conservation efforts.
Local Working Groups operate as subcommittees of the NRCS State Technical Committee and play an important role in shaping local conservation priorities. Those interested in attending should contact District Conservationist Tricia LaValley at tricia.lavalley@usda.gov.
