Shrek Rave Set for New York State Fair Night Fun

By Blake Jackson

The popular Shrek Rave is set to bring its lively, ogre-inspired celebration to Chevy Court at The Great New York State Fair on Friday, September 4, at 9 p.m. Known for its quirky and nostalgic vibe, the event promises an unforgettable night for fans of the beloved Shrek franchise.

“Fire up the ovens, Muffin Man! We got a big order to fill,” as the sensational ogre-themed Shrek Rave makes its way from the swamp to Chevy Court at The Great New York State Fair on Friday, September 4, at 9 p.m.

The experience, dubbed “Shrekno,” features a fully immersive 360-degree projection setup, complete with animated appearances from iconic characters and a synchronized light show that enhances the music.

Attendees are encouraged to embrace the theme by dressing as their favorite characters while enjoying popular songs from the films. From Donkey grooving to “I’m a Believer” to Lord Farquaad moving to “All Star,” the event blends music, cosplay, and humor into a unique celebration.

“Nostalgia is a big element of The Great New York State Fair experience,” said Fair Director Julie LaFave. “For many fairgoers, the music and memories of Shrek are fun, upbeat and full of nostalgia. We can’t wait to bring this one-of-a-kind night to the fairgrounds!”

Guests are welcome to wear themed outfits but must follow the fair dress code, which prohibits masks and face coverings.

The fair will run from Wednesday, August 26, through Labor Day, Monday, September 7. Admission is $8 for adults, while children under 12 and seniors aged 65 and older can enter for free. All concerts are included with admission.

The 2026 Chevrolet Music Series will feature 41 national acts, with daily shows at Chevy Court and Suburban Park, plus special 9 p.m. performances on select Fridays.
