The Great New York State Fair wrapped up its 2023 season on September 5, but the fun doesn't stop there. The Fairgrounds is now open as a year-round destination, hosting events like the New York State Horse Society's Annual Regional Horse Show.
Flavorful New York State
Fairgoers enjoyed a wide variety of New York State-made food and beverages, including:
• 272,055 cups of milk were poured at the New York State Milk Bar, with chocolate milk being the most popular flavor.
• The Taste NY Pop-Up Market featured 140 products from over 40 vendors, and 1,857 transactions were tracked.
• The New York Pure Maple Booth served 11,625 cones and dishes of maple ice cream, 1,400 bags of maple popcorn, and 1,100 pounds of maple sugar candies.
Agriculture, Animals, and Education
The Fair also provided educational opportunities for young people, with over 209 students participating in Agriculture Career Day and the Career Challenge. The Agriculture Office at the State Fair filed more than 10,000 competitive entries for youth, animals, flowers, produce, and fine arts competitions.
Other Highlights
• 34 baby calves were born at the Dairy Cattle Birthing Center, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary at the Fair.
• 4,200 pounds of compost was donated to the Onondaga County Resource Recovery Agency (OCRRA) from participating restaurants in The Eatery Building.
• 312 animal-themed State Fair t-shirts were sold at State Park at The Fair.
