Dairy producers and animal health professionals will have an opportunity to take part in an interactive office hour-style webinar focused on responsible, data-driven antibiotic use on dairy farms. The virtual event will be held January 15, 2026, from noon to 1:00 p.m., and is open to dairy farmers, veterinarians, veterinary researchers and others connected to the dairy industry.
The webinar will explore how antibiotic stewardship can be applied in practical, real-world farm settings. While careful antibiotic use is widely encouraged, daily on-farm challenges often require nuanced decision-making. Speakers will discuss strategies that balance animal health, farm productivity and long-term antibiotic effectiveness.
Presenters will share real-life examples and decision frameworks related to treating common dairy health issues, including mastitis, metritis and respiratory disease in youngstock. The session will also highlight how data and farm records can support smarter treatment choices.
The expert panel includes Brett Boyum, DVM, of Riverview LLP; Michael Capel, DVM, DABVP, of Perry Veterinary Clinic, who will be joined by a dairy producer; Amy Vasquez, DVM, PhD, of Cornell’s Quality Milk Production Services; and Daryl Nydam, DVM, PhD, professor at Cornell.
The discussion will be moderated by Robert Lynch, DVM, of Cornell PRO-DAIRY, and hosted by Renata Iavnek, DVM, PhD. A live question-and-answer session will follow the presentations. For more information, contact Kathy Barrett at kfb3@cornell.edu.
