Brooke Rollins Praises Firefighters, Seeks Enhanced Support

By Jamie Martin

Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins recently conducted a significant roundtable with firefighters from the U.S. Forest Service to express gratitude and discuss improvements in firefighter support after the recent devastating wildfires in California.

This gathering brought together experienced crews from Missouri and California, who shared valuable feedback on their needs and challenges.

During the meeting, Secretary Rollins acknowledged the firefighters' bravery, emphasizing, “Every time you respond to a call, you risk your lives to protect our people, our communities, and our beautiful homeland—and it doesn’t go unnoticed.” This expression of gratitude set the tone for a constructive discussion on how the Forest Service can better equip its personnel.

The firefighters from the Mark Twain National Forest Veteran’s Crew and the Angeles National Forest provided insights into the operational and resource gaps that could be bridged to enhance firefighting effectiveness.

Secretary Rollins assured them of her commitment to reinforcing their capabilities and extending robust support across the nation.

Concluding the roundtable, Secretary Rollins highlighted her ongoing dedication to improving the conditions and support for the U.S. wildland firefighters. Her tour across the country aims to ensure that these discussions translate into actionable strategies that fortify the nation’s response to wildfires and support the courageous individuals at the forefront of these efforts.
