NY HEAT Act needs RAPID Act for clean energy future

NY HEAT Act needs RAPID Act for clean energy future

By Blake Jackson

New York has a chance to combat climate change and improve public health through the NY HEAT Act, which promotes zero-emission home heating and cooling. But to make this a reality, we need a strong renewable energy infrastructure. This is where the RAPID Act comes in.

Think of renewable energy as clean electricity, but we need a robust power grid to deliver it efficiently. The RAPID Act, championed by Governor Hochul, aims to streamline the development of this grid, ensuring a reliable and clean energy flow.

Your voice matters! Contact your state representatives and urge them to include the RAPID Act in the budget alongside the NY HEAT Act.

The NY HEAT Act itself offers significant benefits. It saves residents over $200 million per year, eliminates subsidies for new gas pipelines, and caps energy bills for low-income households. Additionally, it removes the "100-foot rule" that discourages clean energy adoption.

While the NY HEAT Act paves the way for a greener future, the RAPID Act ensures we have the infrastructure to deliver clean energy to homes and businesses. Let's prioritize a clean and reliable grid for a healthier planet.
