The Lake Erie Regional Grape Program, in collaboration with Penn State University Extension and Cornell Cooperative Extension, is inviting grape growers to participate in the 2025 Unmarketable Grapes Survey. Growers from both New York and Pennsylvania are encouraged to complete the survey online.
Participants are asked to provide information about the grape varieties they grew in 2025 that could not be sold due to current market conditions. The survey requests approximate unsold tonnage and the value per ton of these grapes, which can reflect either expected or actual prices received last year. The survey will remain open until Friday, December 5.
The primary goal of this survey is to estimate the economic impact of current market conditions on grape growers. The collected data will help growers, industry organizations, and policymakers make informed decisions regarding production, marketing strategies, and potential policy adjustments.
Survey responses are completely confidential. Only aggregated data such as total tonnage, average prices, and minimum and maximum prices per variety will be reported, ensuring that no individual respondent can be identified. Participants may also exit the survey at any point if they choose.
For questions about the survey or its results, growers can contact Andrew Holden, Farm Business Extension Educator with the Lake Erie Grape Program, at 716-640-2656 or via email at azh6192@psu.edu.
Your input is vital to better understanding the challenges facing grape growers and shaping strategies that support the industry’s future.
