On September 12, 2024, the Cornell Fruit and Vegetable Research Farm in Geneva, NY, will host a comprehensive event focused on advancing hemp cultivation and processing.
The day-long program, running from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., is designed for hemp growers, processors, product developers, researchers, and anyone interested in the latest developments in hemp grain and fiber.
The event will showcase trials of new hemp cultivars, including two innovative varieties developed by Cornell researchers.
These new strains are specifically bred to help New York producers stay within regulatory THC limits. Unlike traditional cultivars from China, which often have late flowering periods and higher THC levels, Cornell's varieties are engineered for consistent compliance with low or undetectable THC levels.
In addition, attendees will see hemp cultivars from France, Italy, Canada, and various U.S. breeding programs.
Participants will also benefit from expert discussions on effective weed and disease management strategies for hemp.
The program will feature live demonstrations of cutting-edge harvesting and processing technologies, including the FiberCut Sickle Bar Harvester and the FiberTrack 660 Mobile Decorticator unique to the Northeast.
The event offers an excellent opportunity for hemp growers to gain strategic insights, explore new techniques and technologies, and network with professionals from New York and across the country.
A $30 registration fee covers the catered lunch and access to all educational resources and demonstrations. Attendees are encouraged to register online in advance.
Additionally, consider attending the USDA ARS Stakeholder Open House on September 11 and the High Cannabinoid Cannabis sativa Field Day on September 13 to further enrich your knowledge and connections in the hemp industry.
