Fox Creek Farm in Schoharie, NY, will host a Fall Vegetable Farm Soil Health and Cover Crop Meeting on Friday, October 4, 2024. The event, running from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., offers beginning vegetable farmers the chance to learn about effective soil health practices.
Farm owners, Sara and Raymond Luhrman, will share insights from nearly two decades of experience, explaining their straightforward cover cropping methods that have kept their soils healthy and productive through intensive vegetable farming.
Attendees will have the opportunity to walk the fields, observe fall cover crops, and ask questions directly to the Luhrmans.
In addition to learning about cover cropping, participants can explore programs offered by the Schoharie County Soil and Water Conservation District and the Cornell Eastern New York Commercial Horticulture Program, both of which provide valuable resources for improving soil health.
The meeting will begin at 4:30 p.m., followed by food at 6:00 p.m. Registration is encouraged to help organizers plan for the event.
This event is made possible through funding from the New York Soil Health Program, reflecting ongoing efforts to support sustainable farming practices in the region. Don’t miss this opportunity to expand your knowledge and connect with fellow farmers!
