Senate Finance Committee Chair Liz Krueger and Assembly Ways and Means Committee Chair J. Gary Pretlow have announced the schedule for joint legislative hearings on the Executive Budget Proposal for the State Fiscal Year (SFY) 2025-26.
The hearings, starting on January 27 and ending on February 27, will provide an opportunity for public input on various areas of the state budget, including agriculture.
The first hearing, scheduled for January 27 at 1:00 p.m., will focus on Agriculture, with representatives from relevant state agencies and departments providing testimony. After their presentations, individuals who have requested to testify on agricultural matters will have the opportunity to share their views.
Given time constraints related to the New York State Constitution’s requirement for the budget’s approval by April 1, the hearings will accommodate a limited number of witnesses.
However, the committee aims to hear from as many stakeholders as possible while minimizing redundancy in testimony.
The hearings will be available for public viewing on the Senate and Assembly websites, as well as through the Legislative Channel on cable systems across the state.
