Cornell University weed science research group is conducting a nationwide survey to gauge United States growers attitudes towards establishing wildflower strips adjacent to their cultivated fields.
This initiative extends beyond mere interest assessment; it aims to comprehensively evaluate grower awareness of relevant USDA programs, such as the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP), which financially incentivize the creation of wildflower strips and pollinator habitats.
The survey findings will serve a dual purpose. They will inform the research group's future endeavors, ensuring their continued relevance and practical application for growers. Additionally, the results will provide valuable insights for US growers regarding existing government support programs that promote sustainable agricultural practices.
This comprehensive approach underscores the project's goal: to develop a seed pelleting technique that facilitates the seamless integration of wildflower strips into current agricultural practices using standard field crop planting equipment.
By empowering US growers with this innovative approach and fostering knowledge of available support programs, the research group aims to contribute to a more sustainable agricultural landscape that benefits both crop production and pollinator populations.
