John Deere Creates Hundreds of U.S. Jobs

By Jamie Martin

John Deere has announced a major expansion of its U.S. operations with plans to open two new facilities focused on manufacturing and distribution. These projects aim to strengthen American industry, support customers, and create hundreds of new jobs across multiple states.

"Our investment in these new facilities underscores John Deere's dedication to strengthening the backbone of American industry and supporting local economies,” said John May, chairman and chief executive officer of John Deere. “We believe in building America, and these projects represent our intent to continue driving innovation and job creation in the United States."

The first project is a newly developed distribution center near Hebron, Indiana. This facility will play an important role in improving parts availability and product support for customers nationwide. Designed with modern logistics systems, the center will help streamline operations and speed up deliveries. The Indiana location is expected to create approximately 150 new jobs and contribute positively to the state’s economy.

The company will also continue operating its long-standing North American Parts Distribution Center in Milan, Illinois. Open since 1973, the Milan facility employs about 1,200 people and remains a critical hub for customer service and supply chain operations.

“This new facility is an investment in customer expectations around world class product support through parts availability for our US based ag, turf, construction, forestry, mining and turf customers,” said Denver Caldwell, vice president, Aftermarket and Customer Support. "Indiana's strong workforce and central location make it an ideal choice for expansion.”

In North Carolina, John Deere is building a $70 million excavator manufacturing facility in Kernersville. This advanced factory will produce next-generation excavators for the construction market. Production previously handled overseas will now move to the United States, further strengthening domestic manufacturing capabilities.

"We are excited to bring this new facility to our Kernersville campus and to be part of the region’s thriving manufacturing community," said Ryan Campbell, president Worldwide Construction and Forestry and Power Systems. “Our focus will be on delivering excellence, creating jobs, and advancing the legacy of John Deere in American manufacturing.”

The Kernersville facility will employ more than 150 workers and use advanced manufacturing technology to meet increasing demand for construction equipment. The expansion positions John Deere as a leader in U.S.-based excavator production.

Overall, these investments reflect John Deere’s long-term commitment to American manufacturing and job creation. As part of a broader plan to invest $20 billion in U.S. manufacturing over the next ten years, the company continues to focus on innovation, quality products, and strong economic growth for local communities.
