Join the New York State Fair Adopt-a-Family Program

The Great New York State Fair, known for its celebration of the best of New York agriculture and entertainment, has announced an exciting opportunity. This time, it's not just about fun rides, delicious food, or live performances; it's about extending the joy of the fair to those in need through its Adopt-a-Family program.

Since 2014, the program has helped over 2,500 struggling families by granting them the opportunity to enjoy a day at the Great New York State Fair.

By offering free admission, parking, and food vouchers, the Adopt-a-Family program ensures that financial hardship is no barrier to an enriching and joyful fair experience.

The fair organizers have now put out a call to all non-profit organizations with the purpose of serving special needs populations, low-income groups, and underserved areas. These organizations have been urged to apply to participate in this noble cause.

The eligibility for participation extends to all non-profit 501(c)(3), 501(c)(5), or 501(c)(6) organizations. They will need to demonstrate their commitment to serving the intended recipients of the Adopt-a-Family packets. The application form is available on the fair’s sponsorship page on its website.

The application package should detail the organization's mission, by-laws, constitution, or similar documents, and the strength and feasibility of the applicant’s plan to distribute Adopt-a-Family packets. The application must also include a comprehensive plan for the selection and distribution of packets to families in need.

The deadline for applications is 11:59 p.m. on Friday, August 11. A dedicated committee will review all applications. All organizations will receive formal notification of their application status.

The number of packets distributed will depend on available funding, total packets available, and the number of successful applicants. The selected organizations will receive their packets no later than Wednesday, August 16, in time for the Fair's kickoff on August 23.

In case of queries, applicants are invited to contact Todd Dupell and Erica Dowdall, who manage the Sponsorship Department at The Fair. This department is responsible for the effective execution of the Adopt-a-Family Program.

This initiative is made possible thanks to partnerships with Fidelis Heath Care, the New York State Department of Health, and the 529 College Savings Program. These partnerships underline the shared commitment to ensuring that the joy of the Fair is accessible to all.

Sean Hennessey, Interim Fair Director, highlighted the importance of family at the heart of the Great New York State Fair. With hundreds of testimonials from families who have benefited from the Adopt-a-Family program, it's clear that this initiative has a profound impact on those it serves.

Now it's your chance to join this impactful program. Let's join hands to make this year's Great New York State Fair an inclusive celebration for all.
