NY Farm Bureau Hosts 2025 Annual Convention Highlights

By Blake Jackson

New York Farm Bureau (NYFB) concluded its State Annual Convention, drawing over 450 attendees and nearly 70 sponsors to the three-day event. Under the theme “Navigating Your Ag Future,” members, agribusinesses, and industry leaders collaborated to discuss emerging trends, promote agriculture, and exchange ideas.

American Farm Bureau Federation President Zippy Duvall joined NYFB President David Fisher for a town hall, addressing key Farm Bureau priorities and fielding questions from members. Duvall also spoke to Young Farmers & Ranchers, emphasizing the importance of training the next generation of agricultural leaders.

Keynote speaker Maureen Ballatori, founder and CEO of Agency 29, offered insights on artificial intelligence and practical tools for farm operations. Morgan Walker, managing director at AFBF, spoke on promoting healthy outcomes for families and communities.

“Over the past few years, I’ve watched our State Annual Convention grow into a banner event for members and agricultural partners across the state. It’s a time for farmers to take a rare step away from the farm and come together in fellowship and learning,” Fisher said. “It’s also a time to engage in spirited debate as we formulate policy for 2026.”

Delegates from 50 county Farm Bureaus reviewed hundreds of policy issues, including support for nonprofit and urban farms, beef promotion, poultry vaccination against HPAI, agrivoltaics, and nuclear energy expansion. They also opposed PFAS-contaminated biosolids for land application.

The convention highlighted innovation and leadership. David Campbell won $5,000 in a mini grant competition for climate-resilient maple equipment. Awards included the Distinguished Service to Agriculture Award for Eric Ooms and the James Quinn Award for Kevin Bittner.

The banquet concluded with raffle winners announced and attendees enjoying an ag-related trivia game and cornhole tournament.
